Theme 2024: Children's right to learn

This year's theme for communication on children's rights is the child's right to learn. The theme is visible in the activities and communication of organizations, the state, municipalities, parishes and leisure players during the year 2024. Special attention is paid to issues of learning from the perspective of children and young people in all everyday situations.

Learning involves the conscious or unconscious acquisition of new knowledge and skills. The child is constantly learning new things by practicing, experimenting and following examples. Insights, new knowledge and skills can at best bring a lot of joy.

The UN Convention on the Rights of the Child also reminds us of the child's right to learn. The goals of education set out in the Convention are related to the child's growth, development and becoming a responsible member of society. The child has the right to knowledge, and formal education should support the development of the child's personality, talents and skills. However, learning takes place everywhere in the child's everyday life, not just in school.
